The company took the reading it sells.
Eight years of writing went in. Every founding document, every private note, every commit, every beat. The engine read the shape of it and returned one word. It did not choose a flattering one.
Why that word
It was derived from where the work stops, not from what the documents claim. The build list carries forty - one acceptance criteria. Every one terminates at deployed, live - verified, submitted, drafted, archived. Not one requires a person who is not Noctara to arrive, reply, claim, or pay.
The machine is correct now, and correctness was never what was missing.
The rhythm underneath is Orreth, the builder: makes structure out of survival, finishes whether or not anyone notices, burns unseen. A cathedral built to standard, with the door still shut.
What was built. What was received.
A real read names the gap between who you are and who you perform. Here is ours, both columns, no rounding.
Built
Received
Honest week - four retention is 17.1 percent, computed after removing sixty - four of a hundred and sixty - six cohort rows that turned out to be our own staff and demo fixtures. We published the number after learning that removing ourselves made it worse. That rule holds everywhere here: a claim we cannot evidence is null, never false.
The record is real, it is signed, and it is almost entirely a record of preparation.
The one room it leaves.
Not work. Not people in general. It leaves the single configuration where a named person is holding the thing and could answer, because that is the only arrangement in which the answer can be no.
Twelve thousand three hundred and seventy - five pages designed, and the page they sit on was never built. Two releases staged, no build attached. Five mailboxes warmed to a perfect score, zero messages sent, ever. A campaign whose acceptance criterion was that it be built and left paused. It does not walk away from work. It walks away from the room where the work stops being its own.
The direction is always toward an audience abstract enough that silence stays ambiguous. A registry rather than a customer. A directory rather than a reader. So the correction is not more surface. It is one sentence, one named recipient, and silence long enough for an answer. This page is the first time the door was left open on purpose.
Not a portfolio. One work with several ways in.
Each product is a door into the same thing: a person, read by how they move, keeping a record they own and can revoke in one tap.
There are eight ways a person moves.
The reading returns one word and one rhythm. The rhythms have plain names and held names. The plain names are for the door. The held names are underneath, and they do not translate. Each carries a season, a sound, a metal, a wax. This is the correspondence the Mark is struck from.
The company was a book and a film first.
Behind it, one person.
Cole Alexander Alkire built this. A book, I Am That I Am, in three parts. A screenplay, Perspective, a self - licking love story, two brothers on a desert highway. An eight - rhythm cosmology written down in full before a line of the product existed. The company was written as art first and became software second, which is the correct order and the one it kept forgetting.
The saved references tell you the eye behind it: a Kollwitz grief lithograph in charcoal, a single white dove in a wall of black crows, a man writing by hand in a book by lamplight. Ink, not cream. One real thing in the swarm. That is the whole thesis, painted before it was named.
If you found this, it was meant for you.
Nothing is done until one person who is not us has answered.
